What we look for in a foster carer

As every child is different, so are our foster carers.

Anyone over the age of 21 can foster, providing they are able to give a local child a secure and caring home and you must have a spare bedroom as all our children need a bedroom of their own.

You can be married, in a civil partnership, in a settled relationship or not met a partner yet.

Our children come from all backgrounds so our carers need to reflect this.  We welcome applications from people of all religions, ethnic backgrounds and cultures.

Recently we have had retired people, those who have worked in schools and care, ex-policemen, military personnel and stay at home mums all approved to be foster carers for us.

We look for people who have experience of listening to children, either in their work or home, the confidence to handle difficult situations and the flexibility to try out new things.
